Olem is a Sergeant (In Promise of Blood, promoted to Colonel in The Crimson Campaign) in the Adran Army. He also serves as Tamas's bodyguard and right hand man.
He smokes cigarettes and is not afraid of speaking his mind to Tamas regardless of rank. He is also a Knacked who does not need to sleep.
After the events in Promise of Blood, Olem is assigned to be part of the Riflejacks, an elite section of the army who only take orders from Tamas himself.
Personality[]
Olem is often sarcastic, and is very loyal to his superior, Tamas. He is frequently shown giving lip to Tamas despite the difference in their rank, and is known to have punched a na-baron after the said na-baron shot his dog.
He also is shown to be sharp-witted and quick thinking, is often impulsive and acts on his intuition. He is said by many characters to be steady, and has a 'steady air' about him.
Appearance[]
He has blonde hair, and is said to be medium heighted, with a 'steady air' about his person. He has sharp looking eyes and also sports a beard, despite military regulations.

Olem's knack is his ability to go without sleep. Despite this, we often see Tamas commenting on Olem's tiredness and it can be assumed that while he does not need sleep, he may use it as a form of rest.

Olem's third eye is said to be strong, as commented on by both Sabon and Tamas.
